Mission

 

To maintain a continuum of services to address the needs of Fulton County job seekers and metropolitan Atlanta area employers.  We strive to satisfy the needs of our customers by providing quality products and services in a professional, clean, and well equipped facility one customer at a time.

 

The Office of Workforce Development Services & Programs

 

Business and Employer Services:

The Office of Workforce Development has a comprehensive approach to meet the needs of employers with the market area, identifying key stakeholders and developing partnerships to foster long-tem business alliances across industry lines to develop strategies to enhance business growth and the vibrancy of community organizations.

 

Career Guidance and Counseling Program: 

Helps job seekers to identify, prepare for and secure employment. Career Advisors, through partnerships with other community based agencies, assist the job seeker in identifying and eradicating barriers to employment by assessing needs, formulating work plans, and providing supportive services to overcome barriers.

 

Disability Services:

Program services for customers with disability include: Full Service Resource Room, Paid/ Non Paid Work Evaluation, Career Scope-Interest and Aptitude Assessment, Occupational Assessments, Free Vocational Skills Training, Typing Skill Enhancement, Workshops, Referrals to Vocational Rehabilitation Services, Referrals to the School of Adaptive Computer Training, Referrals to Department of Labor.

 

Fulton County OWD Preparation and Employment System

The Fulton County Workforce Preparation and Employment System (FCWPES) is housed within the Office of Workforce Development.   The FCWPES, a Workforce Investment Act (WIA) program, has as a vision to assist Fulton County residents and metropolitan Atlanta area employers in developing and sustaining a world-class workforce that realizes viable incomes and benefits, thus strengthening their families and neighborhoods.

 

Job Seekers –Customer Services

Career guidance and counseling is available and helps job seekers identify and eradicate barriers to employment by providing comprehensive and specialized assessments, development of individualized Customers Service Plans, individual and career counseling, specific training leading to a certificate, diploma, degree or license, by providing work experience training, internships, apprenticeships and supportive services.

  

Youth Enrichment Service Program (Y .E. S.):

The Youth Enrichment Services Program (YES) is a year-round comprehensive coordinated youth training and employment program. The program expands workforce opportunities for youth, encourages leadership and independent thinking, and assists youth of Fulton County with assessing and accomplishing their educational and career goals as well as fulfilling their personal potential.

 

Youth Enrichment Services Work Based Learning Program:

The program offers work experience within various work settings and opportunities for exposure to high demand and non traditional occupations.   The program serves not only as an educational opportunity, but also as an avenue for developing partnerships, networking and career preparation for high school students who are interested in exploring their various careers. In order to address the diverse needs of the various professions we cultivate and maintain a service continuum comprised of community based organizations, businesses, industry and labor organizations.  Employers worked in partnership to assess, train, empower, employ and support students in achieving their educational and personal career goals. Program partners make commitments to provide career experience and provide a professional and stimulating internship opportunity for student interns. Partner organizations provide feedback and mentorship on student’s progress based on each student’s career goals and objectives.

 

Workforce Investment Board:

Provide the vision for the area's workforce development system and list the goals that have been established to achieve the vision. Attachment A lists the state's Workforce Vision and Guiding Principles; the local vision and goals should be consistent with the state's while addressing local priorities.  The vision for the Fulton County Workforce Preparation and Employment System (FCWPES) is to assist Fulton County residents and metropolitan Atlanta area employers in developing and sustaining a world-class workforce that realizes viable incomes and benefits, thus strengthening their families and neighborhoods.

 

Special Programs

  

Kaiser Permanente Bridge Program:

The Kaiser Permanente Bridge Program is unique program designed to help individuals whose family’s income is at or below 2500% of the federal poverty level-obtain health care coverage for a low monthly charge. Divisions
